Arsena signed Portugal under-21 midfielder Amaury Bischoff from Werder Bremen in the summer of 2008, after losing Mathieu Flamini and Gilberto Silva.
The French-born Bischoff can play either in the centre of midfield or on the right and played just one game for Bremen last season.
The diminutive midfielder started his career with spells at French clubs SR Colmar and Strasbourg before moving to Bremen in 2005. He played for France's under-18 team before switching his allegiance to Portugal.
His only appearance for the Bundesliga team came against Celta Vigo in the UEFA Cup in 2007.
