Zieler joined United in the summer of 2005 as one of the most highly-regarded young goalkeepers in Europe.
Good in one-on-one situations and an excellent shot-stopper Zieler played 18 times for United's Academy Under-18s in his first season, but has found chances to impress limited by the number of goalkeepers on the club's books.
He began his career with his home-town club in Germany, FC Cologne, but transferred to England to futher his development.
In July 2008, the keeper started every game in Germany's success at the UEFA U19 Championships, playing a key role in their success and continuing his rise through the international ranks.
